As yet another week pass by it is once again time to catch everyone up on the events that occur in the House ‘o’ Estrogen. Life is never dull when you live in a house full of women.
What was once a promising season for my beloved Niners is turning into a serious cluster-fuck as they continue to struggle. The Giants handed them a 33-15 beat down in NYC this past weekend. Fortunately I didn’t watch the game on TV. Hunter and I went to see the movie “30 Days of Night” with my friends Dave and Eric. Awesome movie, gory, suspenseful, and chock full of vampires wreaking havoc and generally causing some serious destruction. If you like vampire movies, I give this one 4 out of 5 stars. Back to my beloved Niners for just a bit: The team is without starting QB Alex Smith, but that excuse is wearing quite thin at this time. C’mon guys, this is the NFL and if you aren’t winning, then you aren’t going to contend for any kind of post season berth. Step it up and get the fucking job done guys!!!!
As for my beloved Seahawks they finally got the job done against the hapless Rams with a 33-6 win at Qwest Field. And it’s about friggin’ time too; had the ‘Hawks not won, I was considering finding a tall building and jumping the fuck off of it. (that’s a joke people…) Congrats to the Seahawks who have a record of 4-3 on the season and are looking to take their winning ways into their bye week where they will get the chance to rest up a bit before continuing on through the rest of the season and hopefully into the post season. WTG SEATTLE!!!!!!
Ok faithful readers lets get something cleared up right now: I HATE TO SLEEP ALONE!!!! Now granted Mrs. Sheldon has this tendency to want to suck all of my bodily warmth from me by cruising over to my side of the bed at night, and while that can be a bit uncomfortable I have gotten used to it, and when necessity dictates I can fend her off pretty well. But this past weekend Mrs. Sheldon went to Spokane for some job training and let my ass here to sleep ALONE!!!!! I don’t like this, not one little bit. I like being able to roll over and give her a kiss while she sleeps; when I do this she always smiles, and I loves to see my wife smile. And I love to bring her coffee in the mornings. I had nobody to bring coffee to on Monday morning. I was less than happy. Memo to Mrs. Sheldon: This had better not happen too often. And if it does you had better be getting paid some serious overtime. Or a bonus or something. Sleeping alone SUCKS IT HARD AND LONG!!!! And not in the way I like.
It’s going to be the Boston Red Sox against the Colorado Rockies in the 2007 World Series. The Rockies have been waiting for a couple of days to find out if they were going to play the Cleveland Indians or the Res Sox. And the Red Sox came from being down 3 games to 1 to take the ALCS in convincing fashion. The Red Sox clinched the best of 7 series with a very emphatic 11-2 win over the Indians on Sunday night; in fact the Red Sox outscored the Indians 30-5 over the course of the last 3 games. I am conflicted as I really like the Rockies and I really like the Red Sox. So it’s going to be a hard decision to make as to who I am going to root for in this year’s Fall Classic. Stay tuned for my decision at some point in the future. In the meantime congrats to both the Rockies and the Red Sox for winning their respective League Championships; it looks to be a great World Series.
Lots of awesome movies coming to theaters near you as the holidays approach. A couple stand out that I will definitely be seeing. First is “Alien vs Predator 2: Requiem” This one looks cool as hell. Gory, bloody, with lots of mayhem, aliens, predators, and gunplay. What more could a guy ask for over the Christmas holiday? And the other one that really stands out is the movie adaptation of Stephen Kings short story “The Mist” which can be found with a few other of Kings short stories in the collection “Skeleton Crew.” This is one of the better stories that King has written and that is really saying something. The trailers make the movie look fucking awesome, and as long as they don’t stray too far from the original story this could wind up being one of the very best adaptations of a Stephen King story yet. The movie drops on November 21st and you can bet that I will be in a theater the following weekend with my popcorn and Mt. Dew in hand waiting to have the bejeezus scared out of me.
Mid terms are done, and I feel like I am carrying a solid B average so far. This class I am taking is a little harder than the others and the teacher is teaching the class as if we’re all working on our Masters degrees. Memo to teacher: We’re NOT working on our Masters degrees and your notion that memorization of this material is needed really kind of flies in the face of all of the other teachers and how they teach in the CDP program. All of the other teachers have based their classes on the idea that it is better to be able to know WHERE to get the proper answers for any questions rather than MEMORIZING the answers. I know that in my everyday work life I haven’t yet had to memorize anything I use for my case management, or for group time. I have RESOURCES I can look things up in when I need to. All of the other CDP teachers have told us repeatedly that it’s not important to memorize things, but it is pretty valuable to know where to find the answers you need. Normally I am a bit of an Alpha personality when it comes to my grades; always wanting the A. Not this quarter people, I am just looking to survive and pass the class.
360 people are beginning to migrate to other sites for to get their blog on. The latest has been Multiply, and I have to confess I have a site there also. And the only reason I have a site there is because it’s FREE. Don’t get me wrong, I love to blog, I just don’t do it enough to warrant paying for a place to do it. And so far Multiply looks pretty cool. I am happy to be there, I like it way better than Mash, and being as one of the apps on Facebook gave Mrs. Sheldons and my computer a virus, we have since given up on our Facebook accounts. So between MySpace, Multiply. 360. and Blogger I have lots of FREE sites to post my weekly rants.
Tomorrow is the DAY!!!!! Me, Hunter, and our friend Gary are going to Seattle to see KoRn play at the Wamu Theater!!! I am beyond excited for a couple of reasons: One is that it will be Hunter’s 1st time seeing them, and he has liked their music since their “Issues” CD was released back in November of 1999. His favorite song from that CD is “Falling Away From Me”, I like all of that CD. I became a fan of KoRn back in the late 1990’s and that wasn’t such a good time for me. I was deep into my active addiction and very angry at the world. KoRn’s music had an energy that really spoke to me at the time, and I found it completely fascinating how they came up with their sound. After doing a bit of research I found out that 7 string guitars played through a mind bending rack of effects pedals allowed them to achieve the sounds that to me did not sounds anything like any guitar I had ever heard at the time. That was my initial attraction to KoRn. The angry lyrics and attitude of the band completed the whole deal for me, and I was a fan for life. I have seen KoRn 4 times, and I have loved every time I have seen them. I have too many favorites from their catalog to name just one. “Freak on a Leash”, “A.D.I.D.A.S.”, “Evolution”, “Blind”, “Make Me Bad”, “Here to Stay” are just a few of my favorite KoRn songs, I can only hope they play some of them at the show. Hunter has been bouncing off of the walls in excitement for this show. He has been hounding me to pick up KoRn latest CD called “Untitled” and I will be picking it up tonight. Gary is super excited to be going to the show; it’s his 1st time to see the boyz from Bakersfield too. I am not sure if I will be able to get any picture of the show, it is at an indoor venue and I haven’t any idea about the stipulations regarding cameras. I don’t think I am even going to take Mrs. Sheldons camera to Seattle with us, maybe I will to get pics of the trip. We’ll see.
And that’s it for another week. I am glad that you have read through another long post full of the stuff of my life in a house full of women. Life is good, I have never been happier than I am at this time in my life. I will heading back into lurk mode, commenting and reading those of you who still post on 360. Have a great weekend, and thanx for listening everyone…
This is me....or a reasonable portrayal of me.

Friday wrap up
As yet another week comes to an end the time has once again arrived for my weekly glimpse into life in the House ‘o’ Estrogen. I never really know from week to week how long this post is going to be; life is kind of funny that way: You never know exactly what is going to happen and when. So without any further ado, let’s dive headfirst into this weeks events.
Jeff Gordon got a much needed win at Charlotte this past weekend to give him a bit of a pad in the points lead for the NEXTEL Cup Championship. Ryan Newman looked to have the race won, but a blown tire and subsequent crash later and Gordon gets the win. Halfway through the Chase and Gordon has a nice 68 point lead over teammate Jimmy Johnson.
For as long as I can remember I have hated/loathed/despised the Dallas Cowboys. Why? Because they are usually a pretty good team and most people hate the teams/people that are good at what they do. In the 80’s everyone hated my Niners. Why? Because they were very good at the game of football. So it gave me no end of delight when the Cowboys took their home field against the New England Patriots on Sunday and by the end of the game had been handed a 48-27 beatdown by the Pats. Memo to all NFC team fans: IMHO the next Super Bowl champions are going to come from the AFC. Dallas was undefeated coming into this game and got their asses kicked by the Patriots, and in a big way. Romo and company actually had a lead in the second half of 3 points, but Brady and his team put that shit to rest really quickly and ran off a 27 -3 scoring run over the last 3 minutes of the game. Dallas was outclassed, outplayed, and out scored in a major way. I am a NFC team kind of guy, but I am harboring no illusions about either one of my teams being able to beat the Pats or the Colts. I love my teams, but the AFC is the dominant conference.
My beloved Seahawks lost to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night, thereby running their record to 3-3 on the season. At least this time they managed to put some points on the board and avoided a shut out. Shaun Alexander only got 35 yards on 14 carried and the ‘Hawks running game looked pretty ugly. Hasselback threw for 362 the most he has had since December 2004, but it was in a come from behind situation all night along. C’mon Seattle, you guys have got to do better than that if you’re even going to think about the post season. On the positive side of my NFL weekend, my beloved Niners had a bye week and didn’t play. Which is good, at least they didn’t have a chance to lose a game that way.
I recently bought and quickly read a book called “The Heroin Diaries” which was written by Nikki Sixx, the bass player and chief lyricist of Motley Crue. The book is a no holds barred, unflinching look at one year in his life as a rock star. And it dives head first into his addiction to what ever was placed in front of him. And the book took me right back to the times when I would be locked in my room with a glass pipe full of methamphetamine, and a pile of meth on my dope tray for good measure. And it reminded me that I NEVER WANT TO GO BACK TO THAT LIFE. Fucking EVER!!! I was instantly reminded of the depth of my self loathing, the complete lack of self esteem or ethics that was such a part of my life at that time. And it gave me a new perspective on my life in recovery. Things happen in this life for a reason, and my buying this book and reading happened for a reason. If you’re in the grips of an active addiction and have the chance to read this book; do so. And don’t read it with the intent of glorifying drug use because there is NOTHING cool about doing drugs, nothing at all. Read it and relate your own experience to it. Relate your own depression, self loathing, loss of self esteem and complete powerlessness over your chemical addiction to what was written in the book. And if you’re in recovery buy this book and read it. Read it several times. I am on my second time through it, and I never want to have to live that life ever again. For you who don’t have a really good understanding of the impact that chemical dependency has in this country check out this little stat: 1 in 5 people in this country are affected by drugs and alcohol. 1 in 5. That is a lot of people by anybodies count. If you know someone that is suffering from the disease of chemical dependency and you love them; help them get the help they so richly deserve. Nobody deserves to die from this disease, nobody. And make no mistake here; the person doing the drinking/drugging is not only hurting themselves, but they are also hurting those around them. Addiction is a lot like a bomb. When the bomb goes off it does incredible damage to its intended target. But there is also collateral damage that is done to the objects around the site of the bomb strike. In this case the collateral damage is done to the friends, family, and loved ones of the chemically dependant individual. I have dedicated my life to helping those people who have the disease of addiction, and that also includes helping their friends, families, and loved ones. I do this because I can only keep what I have by giving it away. I have been given a new life, and it is my responsibility to share how I got it with anyone who needs that information.
The Colorado Rockies are in the World Series for the first time in team history. They got there by winning 20 of there last 21 games, and by sweeping aside the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS, and then the Rockies broke out the brooms and swept aside the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLCS. Mrs. Sheldon has a brother that lives in Denver so the Rockies have been a bit of a family favorite this year in the baseball playoffs. I am pulling for the Red Sox in the ALCS, but I am leaning towards the Rockies to take it all.
I was in the font office at work the other day putting in a request for a larger desk as the one I currently have is a bit too small for me. My supervisor Mark said “That’s a good idea, ‘cause you aren’t going anywhere.” I asked him what that meant exactly, and he told me that I was doing a fantastic job and that management wasn’t going to be sending me to another part of the facility for quite some time. And that faithful readers is what I call job security. I was initially quite angry when I was transferred to the adult facility back in late May, early June. But the fact of the matter is I am truly thriving where I am at. And it was really cool to hear that management was pleased with their decision. I mean think about it; I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary of becoming a counselor and I have the responsibility of having a group of 8-10 (sometimes more) patients, all of the paper work that brings, and all of the treatment planning that brings. And I am doing it at one of the largest, oldest, most affordable treatment facilities in the nation. And I am doing well. I keep waiting for management to find out who I really am. Maybe they already have, and that’s why I am where I am. Life is good at Sundown.
So Yahoo is going to TRANSITION 360 into another service. According to Yahoo it will have better blogging capabilities, and be integrated with other Yahoo services. This is supposed to happen by the year 2008. According to Yahoo they will keep blog content, friends list, profile pics, and help make the TRANSITION to the “new product.” Do ya wanna know what I think? I think it’s cool for them to do that. Do ya wanna know what is bugging the piss outta me? All of the whining I have been reading about the bugs, and losing 360, and on and on and on. I have a few questions for y’all out there: How much do/have you paid for the 360 experience? (Costs for the internet don’t count people…) Is it a Beta program? Does change really scare you all THAT MUCH? Don’t get me wrong now I have some issues with page loading times, but I have not had that many problems with bugs. Sure from time to time I have to post my blast twice for it to save, and Yahoo has eaten a couple of my posts. I fought back by doing my posts on Word and copying and pasting. That way if Yahoo eats the post I can just go back and try again. Quite a few people on my friends list have gone indie or switched to another service. I am not blogging enough nor am I a good enough writer to warrant paying for a site of my own. I have a MySpace page, and a Blogger page and a Mash page, and a Facebook page. And where do I spend most of my online time? 360. Why? Because it gets the job done for me. So I will be sticking around to see how this “new product” works out, I will still only be posting once a week at least for the foreseeable future. And I can tell you that when the “new product” comes out one of two things is going to happen: If it is a good service and worth the wait I am going to have a nice chuckle at those who have bitched so hard about the Yahoo experience. And if it flops I am going to have my other places to post my blogs. And here’s the important part, at least for me: I am not going to let any of it cause me to piss and moan and bitch about bugs, slow page loading times, and the myriad other complaints I have read on these 360 pages. I am going to continue doing what I do wherever and whenever I have the chance to do it. That’s how I roll people.
And now it would seem that Mrs. Sheldons and my computer has been infected with a nasty virus. Everything was running just fine until I sent her a flower from the Facebook site. Methinks that Facebook is not going to be seeing any visits from Mrs. Sheldon and I for quite some time. We will be purchasing a Norton Anti-Virus soon, and hopefully we can get back to having a safe and healthy computer.
And that’s it for another week. Thanx for hanging in there with this post, hopefully I didn’t bore any of you too much. I am going back into lurk mode, and commenting when I feel the need. Or if our computer doesn’t blow up. Thanx for listening everyone…

Friday wrap up.....
Yet another week is in the books and life continues to be quite entertaining in the House ‘o’ Estrogen. Its birthday month with 2 of the girls having birthdays in this month and one of them having a birthday during the first week of next month. I have to chuckle at the “birthday lists” that the girls provide for Mrs. Sheldon and myself; most of the things on said lists will still be in the stores long after the young ladies birthdays have passed. So with that in mind let’s proceed with the weekly update of the goings on in the House ‘o’ Estrogen and in the lives of Mrs. Sheldon and myself.
First thing of note is that the first week of December I am talking a week’s vacation, and Mrs. Sheldon and myself will be driving to Spokane to see one of my all time favorite musical ensembles play: Mannheim Steamroller. I absolutely love their Christmas shows, and I have seen The Steamroller 2 times thus far in my life. Once was back in the 1980’s when they were touring for their “Fresh Aire II” record. And the most recent was their Christmas show in 2004. They put on an incredible show complete with a miniature Christmas village and a train circling the village and guarded by toy soldiers. (The soldiers are life sized, with people wearing costumes, but they look fucking cool...) At one point in the show it appeared to snow in the arena, and there were 22 people dressed up in a variety of Christmas themed costumes in the lobby of the arena. And the band it self was fantastic. Backed by a small but very talented and competent orchestra, and 3 giant video screens the Steamroller put on an outstanding Christmas show, and if you get the chance to see them play on this Christmas tour, I very highly recommend that you get your tickets quickly, as they will undoubtedly sell out and really quickly.
My Seahawks forgot they had a football game to play on Sunday and didn’t fucking show up. The offense was non existent, but the defense did as good a job as could be expected considering they spent most of the game on the field while our offense sat on the bench watching. Memo to the Seahawks: The defense is nails, and did a good job on Sunday. Now if you guys on the offense would like to step the fuck up and play, that would be really nice. IMHO if the Seahawks can ever get both offense and defense clicking at the same time, well they would be a tough team to beat. The problem has been that the offense has sputtered or completely been absent from most of this seasons games. C’mon offense, time to sack up and play like you’re capable of playing.
In NASCAR Nextel Cup news, my boy Jeff Gordon got a last second win at Talladega thus completing a sweep of this years races at the super speedway. He put a fucking sweet move on teammate Jimmy Johnson on the last third of the last lap to get the race win and the Chase points lead, and in the process he sent Tony “I am a whiny bitch” Stewart to a 8th place finish. Nothing brings a smile to my face more than watching Gordon making Stewart his bitch, and getting a hard fought, well earned win. WTG Gordon!!
My Niners offensive woes continued this weekend, and the defense was once again very impressive. Our D held the Ravens to only 9 points, all field goals, but the offense could only muster a touchdown and some questionable play calling in the 4th quarter when the game was on the line. It does my heart a world of good to see the defense hitting the way they have been and swarming to the football the way they have been. However my heart would be doing a whole lot fucking better if the offense would get their collective shit consolidated and start putting some points on the board. C’mon Niners, time to get the fucking job done!!!
In baseball the Red Sox advance, but the Cubs don’t. I am pulling for the Sox in the ALCS, and now I am pulling for the Colorado Rockies in the NLCS. Maybe next year Cubs fans. And for the record I am hoping that the Skankees bite the big one yet again this year and bow out of the playoffs quickly. I think that would be hilarious to see the biggest payroll in the majors get their heads handed to them yet again and thereby prove that money really doesn’t buy championships.
And the Skankees LOSE!!!! The Cleveland Indians went into the House that Ruth built and handed the Skankees another post season loss, in fact it was the third year in a row that the Skankees have been knocked out of the playoffs in the first round. And for his efforts in getting the Skankees into position to win a first round series Joe Torre is going to have the chance to work for another team as the Skankees owner George “How much money do I have to spend to get a World Series ring?” Steinbrenner let Torres know before the series was over that if he didn’t win he would be let go. Memo to Steinbrenner: Take a look at the last 3 World Series winners. They all had payrolls that were way smaller than yours. And you and your over priced team got to watch the playoffs from your homes. And you will again this year. All of the talent in the world hasn’t bought you a ring since about 2000. Money isn’t going to buy you a championship. But heart, desire, and playing like a team will. And here’s another memo, this one is to A-Rod the over priced shortstop for the Skankees: All of the money in the world has gotten you ZERO rings since you “took the money and ran” to Texas and eventually the Skankees. And talk about choking with a bat in your hands? All of the regular season home runs and great hitting doesn’t mean SQUAT when you’re hitting into double plays and striking out. One home run during this post season? You’re an overpaid, under producing baseball player on a team that gets the chance to watch the rest of the baseball playoffs from the comfort of their own homes yet again this year. Buh bye Skankees!!!! So here are my picks for the World Series: From the National League I am really liking the Rockies, they swept the Phillies out of the playoffs and will play the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLCS. And in the American League I am pulling for the Boston Red Sox who swept the L.A. Angels out of the playoffs and will face the Cleveland Indians in the ALCS. SO GO SOX and GO ROCKIES!!!!
In local news a teen-ager was killed in a drunk driving accident. Here’s the thing: The teen-ager wasn’t the one that was drunk. 27 year old Cerrisa Christiansen, a convicted felon that had been in previous trouble for drunk driving was going to wrong direction on northbound I-5 (headed south) in a GMC Yukon when she collided with a Chevy pickup that was carrying 2 Washington teen-agers, one 18 and the other 19 years of age. (The speedometer of the Yukon was stuck at 65 mph. The police suspect that was the speed Christiansen was going when she collided with the 2 unsuspecting teen-agers) The 18 year old was killed at the scene; the 19 year old is in critical condition at a Seattle hospital. Normally I wouldn’t have said anything about this, but here’s the thing: This drunken BITCH had been in trouble for this shit before and had in fact missed a recent court date for a DUI conviction in 2002. Why does she have her license back? Why is she not on an interlock system? Why is it that innocent people have to lose their lives in these kinds of tragedies? It is my sincere hope that this drunken female gets to do some heavy jail time, and lots of it. I have been fortunate enough to have never had a DUI, but there were countless times I drove well over the legal limit and it is only through Gods grace that I never hit anything or hurt anyone while driving. Listen up people, when you get behind the wheel of an automobile after having drinks you become a potential MURDERER! If you feel the need to go out and party, that’s your business. When you get behind the wheel of an automobile after said party that’s when it becomes the publics business. If you’re going to drink, don’t drive. Make arrangements for a designated driver, or save some of your money and take a fucking cab home. I have everyday contact with people who have ruined lives (theirs and others) because of drug and alcohol abuse. I get to see families that have been devastated by the chemically dependant and their actions. I am sick and tired of seeing the pain that drugs and alcohol can bring into both the families and the addicts lives. Memo to the drunken BITCH that used her SUV to kill that young lady: I hope you have many sleepless nights over this. I hope you get your ass tossed into jail for this. And when all is said and done I hope you seek out the help you so desperately need for your disease. My heart goes out to the friends and family of those 2 young people who were starting out a new life together. You see they had just moved in together and were planning a future with one another. And while I see lots of pain surrounding the disease of chemical dependency I also get to see the joy and happiness that comes with the chemically dependant getting the help they deserve and the relief the families get when they see that their loved ones are getting better. Again my heart goes out to the families of the victims of this senseless tragedy, and I hope that the perpetrator of this crime gets her well deserved punishment, and then seeks the help she so obviously needs.
In music new Kid Rock released his new CD “Rock and Roll Jesus” this week. And to that I have to say “SO FUCKING WHAT???” His new single “So Hot” is the worst kind of musical pablum/garbage I have heard in quite some time. The lyrics are insipid, moronic, and contrived. I actually liked his first release that featured “Cowboy”; in fact there were a couple of songs that I really liked on that record including “Wasting Time.” And I liked his song “American Bad Ass” that featured the guitar riffs from “Sad But True” by Metallica. But this new stuff is just not getting it done for me. I know I shouldn’t pass judgment on the whole CD on just the first release, but more often than not the artist and record company pick the first release on it’s strength. And the only thing that is strong about his first single from his new CD is the stink.
It’s official people; KAITY TURNED SIXTEEN THIS WEEK!!!! (WOOT-WOOT!!!)
That’s right; Kaity is now a beautiful 16 year old. And we all know what that means don’t we? It means that she can get a job!! (Riiiiiiiiiight) It means that she is becoming a beautiful young woman. (Definitely) And it means that she will be able to drive!!! (Please pray for me.) Why pray for me you ask? Well it’s like this: Mrs. Sheldon informed me some time ago that I would be the one to give her the initial instructions on how to drive a car. Having seen how Mrs. Sheldon drives, I can only assume that her daughter has the same skills behind the wheel of a car as does her mother. Hence the plea that you all pray for me. (It’s a joke Mrs. Sheldon, I quit white-knuckling it in the car when you drive a long time ago….mostly) Anyhoo, HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAITY!!!! I love her and the rest of my girls, and although there are times when their actions make me want to drive a 9 inch nail through my head repeatedly, I love them with all of my heart. (Teen aged girls huh?)
16 DAYS UNTIL HUNTER AND I GO TO SEE KoRn in Seattle!!!! (WOOT-WOOT!!!!) It’s gonna be a ton of fun, it’ll be my 4th time to see the boyz from Bakersfield, and Hunter’s 1st. Heather’s boyfriend Gary will be seeing KoRn for the first time also, so it is looking to be a good time for everyone involved. The 3 of us will be spending the night in Seattle, and the best part: NO GIRLS!!!!!! (Double WOOT-WOOT!!!!) How cool will THAT be? Pretty cool lemme tell ya. Don’t get me wrong people, I loves my girls and Mrs. Sheldon, but when you swim in a sea of estrogen 7 days out of the week, it’s kind nice to find the beach from time to time and lounge in the sands of testosterone. (You like that analogy people?)
Well that’s about it for now faithful readers. Another week in the books and life rolls on in the House ‘o’ Estrogen. There will be more birthdays, and further reports from the front lines by your truly. I will be going back into lurk mode and leaving comments on the blogs that I read. Thanx for listening everyone…

Once again it is time to take a journey through one week of my life. I am getting a quick start on this weeks ramble, I have something I want to start off with and it has been chapping my ASS ever since I read the blog that Domiana posted last week. Now I try to NOT start of my Friday wrap-ups with a negative feel, and I don’t feel that this one is; I feel that this one starts off with me taking a stand for this wonderful planet and the creatures that inhabited it long before Man came along.
It appears that the governor of Alaska has decided to play God with the wolf population in that state. He continues to permit "land and shoot" practice in certain areas of the state, describing it as public participation in a predator control program, rather than allow people who are so inclined do it from the air. They cannot land a shoot more than once a day and they can’t use helicopters. WTF!? There is currently a $150.00 bounty for 4 legs from a wolf that is bought in. To be used for studying the age of the wolves brought in. Again I say WTF!?! Who the fuck does this jackhole think he is? It would seem that he thinks he is God and has the right to monitor the wolf population in Alaska. I have been to Alaska, and the state is fucking HUGE. And there aren’t that many prime places to farm, and where there are farms I can see keeping the population of wolves in check in order to protect a farmer’s livestock. Memo to the dickhead in charge of Alaska: Mother Nature took really good care of the wolf population LOOOOOOOOONG before your punk ass came along, and I am betting that She doesn't need your help at this point. Leave well enough alone you arrogant fuckstick, you are NOT GOD. All you are is a meddlesome entity that is contributing to the demise of this wonderful planet we live on. If any being/animal/creature should have their population monitored and kept in check it would have to be jackholes like you. Go play God somewhere else you fucking waste of skin. And how sporting is it for someone to hunt from the air while the hunted has only the ground and whatever cover it may provide? Not very fucking sporting at all. If you want to show your sporting nature, get the fuck on the ground with only your wits and your teeth to fight the wolf. THAT would be fair. But in a fucking airplane with high powered rifles? Gimme a fucking break!! It’s fucksticks like the people that condone this kind of hunting that give hunting a bad name.
On Meerkat Manor this last Friday one of the long time endearing characters of the show died. Flower the dominant female leader of the Whiskers clan died from a lethal cobra bite to the head. She followed the cobra into the Whiskers baby sitting burrow in order to protect her new pups, and as a result she got bit. She had been the matriarch of the Whiskers clan for four years and through her leadership the group has over 40 members, making it one of the biggest and most powerful groups in the Kalahari. It was a really sad episode to watch, I thought Flower was pretty cool.
Life continues to be as interesting as ever in the House ‘o’ Estrogen, and as it should the dynamics of the house are changing. Kaity is beginning to put a little distance between herself and the 2 younger sisters Sarah and Lexi. Now that’s not to say that Kaity doesn’t try to push Mrs. Sheldons and my buttons, she does from time to time test our resolve as do Lexi and Sarah. Here’s where the dynamics have changed: Mrs. Sheldon and I no longer feed into the little immature squabbles that occur during the week. There was a time when Mrs. Sheldon and I would let the girls draw us into the argument, and then we would try to impose our will through arguing and threats. Now it’s very simple. We set the expectations and boundaries and if the girls don’t meet them or cross the line then they get a consequence. Now when the girls get the consequence there is inevitably going to be some more arguing. It’s at this point that Mrs. Sheldon and I have begun to simply walk away. We no longer stay to fight and argue with the girls; we give the consequence and leave them to try and fight with nobody. And it works like magic!!! And the girls have found out that fighting alone makes them look pretty silly. As for Hunter he is an 11 year old boy and the normal battles occur with him that occur with any 11 year old boy. Get your room picked up, get your school work handed in on time, pick up after yourself, and get your dishes cleaned up. Luckily for Mrs. Sheldon and me Hunter hasn’t reached the age where he feels he needs to contest every little thing that Mrs. Sheldon and I say. Don’t get me wrong he pushes the limits as far as he can, but I can still use my tone of voice and “the look” to get him to do as he is asked. That kind of thing has never worked with the girls and I suspect that it never will. Cool by me though, Mrs. Sheldon and I are doing what good parents should be doing: Showing a united front to our kids and letting them know in a firm and not confrontational manner that WE call the shots in the house, and that WE will uphold certain expectations and rules in the house, and that those rules and expectations are not negotiable, and that they are fair at the same time.
CONFLICTED!!!!!! My weekend in the NFL was a double edged sword this week. My beloved Niners fucking SUCKED in their loss to my beloved Seahawks. The Niners ran out of feet to shoot themselves in and consistently put themselves in bad situations that our defense couldn’t bail the offense out of. And as for my beloved Seahawks, they didn’t/couldn’t deliver the knock out punch and put the game out of reach. The Niners gave the Seahawks a plethora of chances to run the score but the Niners D held the Seahawks to 23 points. If my beloved ‘Hawks are going to contend in the NFC this year they are going to have to know how to go for the jugular and knock teams the fuck out when given the chance to do so. And if my beloved Niners are going to contend, they need to find a fucking offense, ‘cause the one they displayed on Sunday fucking sucked it hard and long. And not in a good way. Nice job Seattle, and maybe next week my beloved Niners will sack the fuck up and play some fucking football.
Mrs. Sheldon never ceases to amaze me. She has gotten into the habit of buying candy for my office, and my patients have been digging on the stuff that she brings. The other day I jokingly made the comment that they (my patients) should write her a “thank you” card and give it to her. So they did. They all wrote their thank you’s in the card and I took it home to Mrs. Sheldon. It almost had her in tears; my guys are pretty cool and they showed their appreciation to my wife in one of the coolest and warmest gestures I have seen in some time. Thanx guys for doing that, it made my wife’s day. And thanx to Mrs. Sheldon for being… well for being Mrs. Sheldon. I am the luckiest guy on the fucking planet; I married my best friend, and an amazing woman. Love you Mrs. Sheldon.
The kids all went to the fair the other day, in fact the schools in Moxee have a specific day off to go to the fair. The girls went together and Hunter went with one of his friends. It would appear that all of them had a great time; the girls were there for about 4-5 hours and Hunter was there for about 6 ½ - 7 hours. They rode the rides and had a blast. Mrs. Sheldon and I will be going sometime during the week; we hope to see Eddie Money play some rock and roll from OUR time period. I’ve seen Eddie Money before; he opened for April Wine back in the day. He did a great job and sounded awesome. Hopefully he sounds good this time around.
Well we just returned from the fair, and as expected Eddie Money sounded fucking fantastic. And talk about a musical trip down memory lane!!! From the opening riffs of “2 Tickets to Paradise” to the final strains of “Shakin’” Eddie was fucking great. My favorites on the night were “Gimme Some Water” and “Baby Hold On”, but to be completely honest I knew just about every song he played tonight. And his daughter Jessie Money can SING!!!! She got out on the stage and did “Turtle Blues” by Janis Joplin solo, and the vocals that Ronny Spector made famous on “Take Me Home Tonight.” For an 18 year old young lady Jessie has the voice of a woman many years older. She was incredible, and complemented what Eddie was doing so well. Lots of stage presence and she was right in tune with what the band was doing. All in all I had a great time. And Mrs. Sheldon seemed to enjoy herself also.
Ok I wasn’t going to say anything and further feed the media frenzy/train wreck that is Britney “Hey bartender, make it a double” Spears life, but I just can’t let this one go without saying anything. Britney has lost custody of her kids to her ex-husband Kevin “I’ll ride your coattails to get famous” Federline. Evidently the courts feel that he is a better parent than Britney. Normally I would have said not a chance, but Britneys behaviors as of late have been anything but normal. So is this saddest of situations (sad for the children) it appears that Federline is truly the better parent. Memo to Miss Spears: Get some freaking help you no talent bimbo. Get the rehab, work a fucking program, stay sober, and for the love of God keep your fucking legs crossed, or get on the pill. Do NOT under ANY circumstances have any more children. You haven’t been able to be a mother to the ones you have now, please don’t have any more. And instead of trying to revive a career that has long since faded into obscurity, why don’t you go ahead and put some effort into parenting. Take some classes, read a book, ask someone who knows. Just do something for the sake of your children. You might think it’s cool to strip down and go for a swim at a moments notice. You might think it’s ok to show your coochie to the world because wearing panties cramped your style. You might think that you should continue singing for a living. You might think that shaving your head and beating the piss out of some poor helpless car with an umbrella is the right thing to do. You might think that driving you SUV with your child in your fucking lap is the height of safety, and you might think that because you’re a big star means you don’t have to have a legitimate license to drive a car, but you are sadly mistaken. You are no better that anyone else on this planet, in fact I can think of people/parents that have more parenting skills in their fucking pinky finger than you have in your entire body. (Mrs. Sheldon comes to mind, she can parent like a mutha fuggah!!!) So take some of that money you have earned for doing God knows what, and buy a fucking clue. You a no talent mother of two, so why not concentrate you energy into being a mother of two. Let go of the music (that in my opinion sucks it hard and long) and grab ahold of those kids before they decide like the majority of us that you’re a piss poor excuse for a mother and that they want nothing more to do with you.
One of the girls advanced the idea the she wanted to move back to 3Cities with her sister. I have mixed emotions about this. One side of me would miss her. Not her temper tantrums or the sense of entitlement that she wears like a tiara from a beauty pageant; but the young lady that has a smile that lights up a room. The young lady that that has such an awesome sense of humor, and is such a joy to be around. The other side of thinks it’s a fantastic way for her to see that life here isn’t all that fucking bad. The other side of me thinks that moving in with big sister might just show her that living with mom isn’t as bad as she wants to make it out to be. That maybe opening the fridge and seeing food in there that is edible and that there is plenty of it is better than being closer to friends that are actually only a one hour car ride away. Who knows? The other side of me thinks that it might just make the young lady will see in all reality that life here is way better than she makes it out to be, and maybe she will appreciate Mrs. Sheldon a bit more than she does now. I truly don’t think it will happen. Big sis doesn’t have the patience nor the income to support little sis the way that we do. This idea has been advances before and nothing has come of it, and IMHO nothing will come of it this time. Mrs. Sheldon made a well advised phone call to big sis and let her know about some boundaries that would be set, and big sis back pedaled pretty quickly. That and big sis and her boyfriend have roommates that hadn’t been consulted about this idea, and I get the distinct feeling that said roommates would probably not be too keen on having little sis living there for longer than say 1 night.
The baseball playoffs kicked of this week, and my picks for the World Series are as follows: From the American League I am picking the Boston Red Sox. I fucking hate the Skankees, and I have for quite some time now. And from the National League I am choosing from my heart and not my head and I am going with the Chicago Cubs. It has been fucking FOREVER for the Cubbies, and I think it’s about fucking time they got a shot at a ring. So GO CUBS, and GO SOX!!!
Well that’s about it for another week. Long assed post huh? If you’ve made it this far, then you are truly a patient and compassionate person, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am going back into lurk mode, I will be watching you all and commenting when I feel the need. Thanx for listening everyone…
